Health Center Program Service Expansion SBSS Award
ROCKFORD, IL: July 22, 2022 – theFranaGroup is pleased to announce that three of its clients, A Plus Family Healthcare, located in Brownsville, KY, Crusader Community Health, located in Rockford, IL and LifeSpring Health Systems, located in Jeffersonville, IN, is a recipient of the SBSS Award. Each client has been awarded $200,000 by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), to improve and strengthen access to school-based health services in their communities. This award will support local partnerships between schools and health centers to provide children and youth the comprehensive physical and mental health care they need. HHS awarded nearly $25 million to 125 HRSA-funded health centers that deliver comprehensive, high-quality primary health care services to individuals and families through school-based sites in underserved communities. A Plus, Crusader and LifeSpring will use this funding to increase access to care for students receiving essential health care, mental health services, community and patient outreach, health education, and translation support.
Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) now represent the largest primary practice in the United States. In 2021 they served almost 29 million patients including almost 377,000 Veterans. FQHCs provided primary care to one in nine children, one in three people living in poverty and one in five people living in rural areas.
