National consulting firm assists two Federally Qualified Health Centers receive funds for Behavioral Health and Opioid Addiction

 

ROCKFORD, IL:  August 12, 2019 – US Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) announced today the awarding of $200 Million to increase access to high quality, integrated behavioral health services, including the prevention or treatment of mental health conditions and/or substance abuse disorders, including opioid use disorder through funding awards in the Integrated Behavioral Health Services (IBHS) program. Two of theFranaGroup clients: Interior Community Health Center in Fairbanks, Alaska and Packard Health in Ann Arbor, Michigan each received $167,000 (for a total of $334,000) to support their efforts.

The $334,000 in funding to theFranaGroup clients will help increase access to Behavioral Health and Opioid Addiction services. This will help fight the opioid epidemic in two states: Michigan and Alaska. Awards are $167,000 each. The purpose of these grant programs is to support existing Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) clinics to fight the opioid epidemic by: expanding access to treatment and recovery services; targeting use of overdose-reversing drugs; and expanding behavioral health services.

FQHCs now represent the largest primary practice in the United States. In 2018 they served more than 28 million patients with over 115 million patient visits at over 12,000 service sites, with a combined staffing of over 236,000 health care professionals. FQHCs now provide primary care to one in twelve adults and one in nine children living in the United States.
